An inverter cooling apparatus for a compressor driven by a motor is provided to cool an inverter without using refrigerant such that performance of an air conditioner is not deteriorated. An inverter cooling apparatus for a compressor(1) comprises a cooling fan(5) and a clutch device. The cooling fan is installed on a rotating shaft(3) of a motor(9) of the compressor to blow cooling air toward an inverter(7). The clutch device controls rotational force transmission between the cooling fan and the rotating shaft of the motor by detecting heat of the inverter. The inverter is air-cooled by using rotational force of the motor of the compressor without using refrigerant so that cooling performance of the air conditioner is not deteriorated.
