PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate an important variable aiding diagnosis of disorders or condition. SOLUTION: This computer system for selecting a variable includes: (a) a means for giving a first set composed of n-number of candidate variables and a second set which is blank at the first and composed of important selected variables; (b) a means for evaluating the respective variables by taking the candidate variable one by one, and training an intention decision aiding system based upon the variable coupled to the current set of important selected variables; and (c) a means for selecting the best variable, which gives the best performance of the intention decision aid system among the candidate variables, adding the same to the set composed of important selected variables and removing the same from the candidate set when the best performance variable more improves the performance as compared with the performance of the important selected variable, and continuing the evaluation using the means (b) until the best candidate variable does not improve the performance.
