An engine with a radially arranged piston is provided to reduce a volume of the engine by arranging a plurality of cylinders in a radial direction around an output shaft. An engine comprises a housing(10), an output shaft(20), a valve gear(30), and an ignition plug(40). The housing has a center hole(12), a plurality of cylinders(14) radially arranged about the center hole, and pistons(16) reciprocating in the cylinders. The output shaft is installed in the center hole and is provided with an output gear(22) which rotates about a central axis of the housing. The valve gear is engaged with the output shaft to periodically adjust the intake and exhaust strokes of the cylinders. The ignition plug is installed in the cylinder to ignite fuel.
