A power generation control method in an idle charge of a hybrid electric vehicle is provided to improve a management efficiency of an SOC(State Of Charge) by correcting heights using an air pressure sensor. A power generation control method in an idle charge of a hybrid electric vehicle includes the steps of: determining whether a current state satisfies an idle charge condition; if the idle charge condition is satisfied, calculating an idle charge power quantity based on a current switchgear position and an SOC quantity, and calculating a target charge RPM based on the calculated charge power quantity; calculating heights correction coefficient according to a current air pressure based on a signal of an air pressure sensor, reflecting the calculated heights correction coefficient to the charge power quantity and calculating a final charge power quantity; and controlling a power generation quantity and a battery charge quantity based on the calculated final charge power quantity.
