<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for converting a coding system, capable of improving image quality and the efficiency of a coding, while reducing the computational complexity of image coding processings, increasing the speed of computational operation and lowering the consumption power. <P>SOLUTION: The device 100 for converting the coding system converts input data compressed and coded by a first system into output data compressed and coded by a second system. The device 100 for converting the coding system has image decoding section 101 for decoding the input data and a coding-structure determining section 103 for determining a coding structure as either of a field coding and a frame coding to each slice as coding units in the second system, configuring each image by using informations other than the information displaying either of the field structure and the frame structure by each image in the first system in the input data; and the device 100, further has a picture coding section 104 compressing and coding picture data decoded by the image-decoding section 101 by the second system, in accordance with the determined coding structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
