PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particles for a display medium to be used for an information display panel, the particles achieving both of reducing adhesion strength and ensuring coloring efficiency by reducing void spaces present within the particle. SOLUTION: The particles for a display medium, the particles constituting a display medium of an information display panel that displays information by applying an electric field to move the display medium sealed between substrates, comprise polymer particles which are approximately spherical, obtained by a wet method and which contain a binder resin, a colorant, and a copolymer of acrylic monomers and hydrocarbon monomers or a copolymer of acrylic monomers and fluorine-containing acrylic monomers. A part of or the whole monomers as a source material of the binder resin are crosslinking monomers. The polymer particle has a minute concavo-convex pattern uniformly distributed on the surface and has a void ratio, which is a ratio of void spaces within the particle, of 10% or less by a volume fraction. Thereby, the obtained particles for a display medium achieve both of reducing adhesion strength and ensuring coloring efficiency. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
