LUBRICANT FORMULATION AND LUBRICATING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant formulation which is reduced in the inactivation of an exhaust gas catalyst and/or reduced in oil consumption, and a lubricating method. SOLUTION: The lubricant formulation contains (a) a base oil having a NOACK volatility of about 5 to about 15, and (b) a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate having a primary alkoxy moiety; and the lubricant formulation is practically free of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate having all-secondary alkoxy moieties.
