PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift lever device disposed in a concentrated manner at one place while a shift position detection means is made to be inexpensive and highly reliable. SOLUTION: The shift lever device is equipped with a shift lever 3 which is supported to be free to oscillate in the select shift direction, a switch arm 51 which oscillates in the mutually orthogonal direction according to the oscillation of the shift lever 3, a select detection slider 56 which moves by the movement in the select direction of the switch arm 51 and has moving contacts 68-70, a shift detection slider 55 which moves by the movement in the shift direction of the switch arm 51 and has a moving contact 67, and a base substrate 53 where the select detection slider 56 and the shift detection slider 55 respectively slide, and which has fixed contacts 61-66 composing switches SWa to Swf among the moving contacts 67-70 of the detection sliders 55, 56. The shift lever device is provided with s shift position detection means 4 where the on/off pattern of the switches SWa-SWf changes according to each shift position and which obtains the position information by the on/off pattern.
