PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of improving fuel consumption in an automobile that can improve fuel consumption by improving the combustion efficiency of the mixed gas of fuel and air that has been excited and activated by the reaction of far infrared rays and negative ions radiated from amphibole. SOLUTION: Non-air-permeable structure formed by adding fine particles of amphibole of 5 to 35 wt.% to clay, silica, or synthetic resins, then mixing and baking, or kneading them, or air-permeable structure formed by kneading or applying fine particles of amphibole of 5 to 35 wt.% into a synthetic resin or a synthetic fiber of 65 to 95 wt.%, are disposed at the upstream side and downstream side of a filter of an air cleaner case, or at either of the sides.
