ELECTRON BEAM STERILIZING AND CRYSTALLIZING OF PREFORMS

A moulding system having an electron beam generator is provided for sterilising and controlled crystallisation of preforms. In order to sterilise the interior of injection moulded preforms, an electron beam generator having an electron beam tube is positioned over an opening of a preform so that the electron beam may be aimed at the interior of said preform. A drive mechanism is provided for moving the electron beam generator into position, and a controller is provided for controlling the drive and the electron beam emitter.
