A multivariable predictive control system and a method thereof are provided to protect processes from various errors by processing a multivariable control function in a controller. A multivariable predictive control system includes a HMI(Human Machine Interface) unit(110), a database(120), and multivariable predictive controllers(130). The HMI unit receives parameters used for calculating MVO(Manipulated Variable Output), monitors processes, and displays the monitored processes. The database stores the parameters inputted from the HMI unit. The multivariable predictive controllers receive the parameters stored in the database, receive CV(Controlled Variable) and MVI(Manipulated Variable Input), and calculate the MVO. The parameters include a control period of the MVO, an output mode of the MVO, a range of the CV and the MVI, a weighted matrix for tuning the controller, a set point of the CV, and the number of predictive steps.
