PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motion vector detector capable of reducing an operation amount and a circuit scale and reducing a memory as well in two or more pieces of pixel interpolation processing different in pixel accuracy.

SOLUTION: The motion vector detector 100 comprises an interpolation coefficient switching part 117 for switching the interpolation coefficient of a filter operation for pixel interpolation corresponding to the pixel accuracy and outputting it to a common pixel interpolation means 115, and the common pixel interpolation part 115 for generating the interpolation pixels of 1/2 pixel accuracy and 1/4 pixel accuracy on the basis of an integer pixel accuracy motion vector candidate position calculated in an integer pixel accuracy motion detection part 111 on the basis of the interpolation coefficient inputted from the interpolation coefficient switching part 117, etc.
