<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and an image display method which are high in image quality and inexpensive. <P>SOLUTION: Light from a light source is polarized, the polarized light is separated and an image is formed by linear order by using a display element. Further, a middle image having a pixel arrangement possessed by the display element is formed and the light is deflected in a plurality of different areas on the exit side of a microlens array provided in a middle image surface.
