PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frame interpolation device which is capable of outputting an image signal of 120 Hz by interpolation processing of a pull-down signal of 60 Hz. SOLUTION: The frame interpolation device includes: a detecting section which receives a frame signal (F01) of 60 Hz and outputs a pull-down detection signal when determining that the frame signal is a pull-down signal; a generation section which generates a first frame signal (FN1, FN3) of 120 Hz with a first insertion pattern and a second frame signal (FN2, FN4) of 120 Hz with a second insertion pattern on the basis of the frame signal of 60 Hz ; and a selecting section which outputs the first frame signal (FN1, FN3) with the first insertion pattern when not receiving the pull-down detection signal and outputs the second frame signal (FN2, FN4) of 120 Hz with the second insertion pattern when receiving the pull-down detection signal.
