PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature probe for molten metal used for measuring the temperature of a molten metal, without causing operation anomaly or product anomaly, and which excels in heat resistance and corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: This temperature probe 10 for molten metal is equipped with a thermocouple for measuring the temperature of molten iron 12 and a protective tube 13 with the thermocouple built therein. The protective tube 13 is formed out of cermet material, comprising molybdenum and alumina, and the specific gravity of the protective tube 13 is smaller than the specific gravity of the molten iron 12, while the alumina content of the cermet material is not smaller than 10 mass% and not larger than 40 mass%.
