PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for improving the makeup durability of a composite powdery material having a platy shape. SOLUTION: This powdery material for cosmetics is characterized by coating (1) a composite powdery material having a platy shape with (2) a polymer containing an acrylic acid derivative represented by general formula (1) [R<SB>1</SB>is H or a 1 to 4C alkyl group; R<SB>2</SB>is a sugar residue, an amino acid residue or a phosphorylcholine residue; (n) is an integer of 0 to 4] as a constituting monomer. The composite powdery material having the platy shape is preferably sericite or mica coated with one or more of the following metal oxides: silica, alumina, iron oxide, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and zirconia.
