It is intended to provide a hair modifier which essentially modifies damaged hair, improves hair manageability, moistness, and elasticity, and exhibits excellent sustainability of effect, a hair care product containing the hair modifier, and a method for modifying hair using the hair care product. The hair modifier contains an ester compound of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid having 4 to 6 carbon atoms and a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated alcohol having 12 to 24 carbon atoms. The hair care product contains the hair modifier. The method for modifying hair includes the step of applying the hair care product to hair.
