PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image sensor capable of reducing illuminance differences on a reading object and inexpensively preventing picture quality from being degraded. SOLUTION: The image sensor 10 for radiating light to an original 2 uses EL light emitting elements 24, 25 which emit light by organic electroluminescence as a light source. The EL light emitting elements 24, 25 are formed like lines each of which includes first and second end parts 36, 37 separated from each other in a scanning direction and an intermediate part 38 existing between the first and second end parts 36, 37. The EL light emitting elements 24, 25 have such a characteristic that the distribution of luminance intensity is changed so that the luminance intensity of the first and second end parts 36, 37 becomes higher than that of the intermediate part 38.
