<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus with DC contact charging system which effectively suppresses discharge caused by the rise of charged potential in an end area. <P>SOLUTION: A discharge electrode 2321 applied with DC voltage 2322 is brought into contact with the surface near the end of a photoreceptor 22 at a position after a charging position CP where a charging roller 23 charges the photoreceptor 22 and before a developing position DP where a developing roller 44 and the photoreceptor 22 faces each other. The charge in the end area Re in the charging area Rc in contact with the charging roller 23 on the surface of the photoreceptor 22 is partially eliminated through the discharge electrode 2321, so that potential rise in the end area Re is eliminated and discharge in the developing position DP is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
