PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which is free from image quality deterioration and is high in reliability by suppressing the occurrence of smear, even if there arises a secular change in the V-1 property of an electronic source. SOLUTION: In order to detect a scanning line current, the scanning line current in black display and the scanning line current in medium contrast or white display are detected by a current detection circuit 40 and the detection data 21 are subjected to differential operation by a differential operator 1. On the basis of the differential data 8 from the differential operator 1, a voltage drop correction circuit 6 calculates the corrected amount of the scanning electrode voltage and the data electrode voltage and the scanning electrode voltage and the data electrode voltage are corrected and thereby the image display device is attained which can deal with the secular change of the electronic source and is high in reliability and in image quality.
