SOLUTION: Projection portions 80 and 90 projected from liquid crystal layer sides of substrates to liquid crystal layers and formed in a periphery of a pixel area X are formed on substrates 10 and 20, and alignment films 40 and 60 are formed on the entire liquid crystal layer sides of the substrates including the liquid crystal layer sides of the substrates 10 and 20 where the projection portions 80 and 90 are formed, where domains 41 and 61 disposed on the projection portions 80 and 90 are horizontal alignment regions where liquid crystal molecules are aligned uniformly in a substrate surface direction and other domains 42 and 62 are vertical alignment regions where liquid crystal molecules are aligned in a direction perpendicular to substrate surfaces.
