PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for converting gypsum dihydrate which is a main component for a gypsum board to another substance using an inexpensive material and by a convenient means. SOLUTION: Provided is a method for manufacturing calcium hydroxide wherein potassium hydroxide and gypsum dihydrate or a material whose main component is gypsum dihydrate are reacted in water and then calcium hydroxide is deposited.
