The invention relates to a structural element comprising a visible usable surface consisting of a flexible non-self-supporting fine stoneware layer (1), said structural element being characterised by its shock-proof, heat-resistant, thermoshock-proof, scratch-resistant, hard, non-porous, abrasion-proof, stain-resistant, suitable for food contact applications, acid-resistant, light-resistant, UV-neutral and burn-resistant properties. As the fine stoneware layer (1) is not self-supporting, it must be connected to a supporting layer (3) by means of a suitable bonding agent layer (2). The properties of the bonding agent layer (2) depend on the selection of the material combination of the supporting layer material of the fine stoneware layer. A suitable bonding agent is selected according to the use for which the structural element is provided with a visible usable surface consisting of a flexible fine stoneware layer. The structural element according to the invention is mainly characterised by the properties of the surface thereof, the properties of the supporting material being of secondary importance. Said structural element presents a real and affordable alternative to the best existing solutions in terms of kitchen worktops, especially using glass fall as the supporting layer (3), cast with chip wood, thermosetting plastic or resin. |
