A hydraulically damped spring, especially for a rail vehicle has a pot shaped hydraulic housing (4) topped by a conical elastomer spring (8) defining a conical gas space (18). A vertical damping shaft (12) is set through the elastomer spring and has a damping flange (22) positioned into the viscous hydraulic fluid at the lower end. The improvement has up to four radial plates (23) which provide lateral damping support.
