PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check errors of character recognition results by a character recognition device without providing a character string with digits for embedding of check digits. SOLUTION: By software, a character recognition device 3 performs: a business form image input part 28 for input of an image of a business form wherein a character string having printing modes selected from two or more kinds of printing modes per character is printed; a character recognition processing part 30 for recognizing characters on the basis of the input image of the business form; a check information generation part 33 for generating first error check information obtained on the basis of character codes of respective recognized characters and second error check information obtained on the basis of printing modes of prescribed characters in the recognized character string; and a character recognition result verification part 34 for verifying with the generated first and second error check information to check errors of character recognition results.
