PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which can shorten a start-up time of an optical disk, and can reduce workload of specifying the classification of the optical disk on a user. SOLUTION: An optical disk information receiving part receives from the outside a classification and recording status of the optical disk loaded in an optical disk drive. The optical disk information receiving part records temporarily the received optical disk information in a recording part such as a memory. When a microcomputer transmits a spin-up command to a drive control part, the microcomputer transmits the spin-up command while incorporating the optical disk information therein. The drive control part having received the spin-up command determines the classification and a recording status of the optical disk loaded in the optical disk drive using the optical disk information extracted from the spin-up command, various processing such as start-up processing, recording processing, and playback processing of the optical disk are performed.
