PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update system software of a robot controller without a host computer. SOLUTION: The robot controller 20 provided with EPROM 22 for storing system software 40 of a robot in a rewritable state includes a network line 61 for connecting a plurality of robot controllers and enabling communication between them, a version number confirmation program 52 for confirming a version number VB of the system software 40 stored in the EPROM 22 of another robot controller 20B connected by the network line 61, and a transfer request program 53 for transferring the system software 40 via the network line 61 from the robot controller 20B when the version number VB of the system software 40 of the robot controller 20B is confirmed to be newer by the version number confirmation program 52.
