PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for controlling display for a dot matrix LCD having no interference of display data and high visibility. SOLUTION: The method includes: dividing the screen of a dot matrix LCD comprising a plurality of COM (common) signal lines and a plurality of SEG (segment) signal lines into a plurality of display areas; and performing control to display a display pattern such as characters and numbers in each display area. The screen is divided into display areas not to share the same COM signal line and is controlled to display a pattern such as characters and numbers by the COM signal lines and the SEG signal lines in each divided display area.
