The method involves ascertaining all influence factors on a system (10), where equivalent category factors are indicated for all possible characteristics of a factor. The influence factors are assigned to individual sub-systems (11,12,13) of the system, which is tested. A test specification is constructed for each sub-system, where individual test cases of the specification are determined by combining the equivalent category factors of the relevant influence factors. An independent claim is also included for a tool for determining test cases for a software system.
