The electromagnetic actuator (10) has a coil (12) and a component made of magnetizing material, in which magnetic flux line are formed by supplying current to the coil, and the component is provided with multiple holes (30). The component is a magnet core (16), particularly a pot core and an armature (24), particularly a plate armature. The holes are arranged in multiple rows (32) and in multiple offset double series (34). The rows runs essentially parallel to the magnetic flux line developed by supplying current to the coil. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of a component for an electromagnetic actuator.
