A method for managing confidential documents in an image forming device and the image forming device thereof are provided to keep compatibility and stability among devices by encoding the confidential document through a user authentication process and a symmetrical encoding mode, and storing the encoded confidential document in a removable storage medium. A password converter(120) generates a temporary password by converting a password inputted from a user. A key generator(130) generates an encoding key needed for encoding a confidential document by operating the generated temporary password and a previously stored master key. An encoder(140) encodes the temporary password, and encodes the confidential document by using the encoding key. A storing medium(160) stores the encoded temporary password and the encoded confidential document. A decoding unit(170) releases the encoding of the confidential document stored the storing medium based on a symmetry method by using a master key.
