An apparatus for sensing a remaining quantity of a developer in an imaging apparatus is provided to allow a user to confirm the remaining quantity of the developer at any time, predict an exchange time of the developer, and cope with the exchange of the developer. A developing cartridge(10) contains a developer. A mixing unit(20) is rotatably installed in the developing cartridge. A driving unit(30) freely falls and drives the mixing unit. A sensing unit(40) senses a remaining quantity of a developer in the developing cartridge in a standby time until the mixing unit is freely fallen to a developer containing surface and is driven by the driving force of the driving unit. The driving speed of the driving unit is slower than the free falling speed of the mixing unit.
