<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure for joining members, applicable also to members of different kinds. <P>SOLUTION: The structure has: first and second plate-like members 1, 2 respectively having mutually connected punched holes 3, 4 and superposed over each other so as to be in surface-contact with each other; a fastening member 5 having formed in it a threaded hole 20 continuing to the holes 3, 4 of the members 1, 2 to be joined, located on the opposite side of the second member 2 to be joined, and in contact with the first member 1 to be connected, and an auxiliary member 7 inserted into the threaded hole 20 of the fastening member 5 and into the holes 3, 4 of the first and second members 1, 2 to be joined. With the use of friction heat and plastic flow, the material of the auxiliary member 7 is caused to enter the thread groove in the threaded hole 20 of the fastening member 5 and to cover the periphery of the hole 4 of the second member 2 to be joined.
