PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera which guarantees the recording of information on a photographing position in such a camera that records information on its own position on the earth obtained by using GPS or the like and image information obtained by photographing in a recording medium by associating them with each other. SOLUTION: The camera includes: a position measurement means for receiving data transmitted from a satellite and measuring its own position on the earth on the basis of the received data; a recording means for recording image information based on an object image formed through an optical system and positional information of the own position measured by the position measurement means in a prescribed recording medium by associating them with each other; and a control means for controlling the recording of the recording means so as to preferentially record the image information in the recording medium even when the positional information of the own position measured by the position measurement means is in an undefined state and inhibiting power OFF of the camera until the positional information is defined and recorded in the recording medium.
