PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that high frequency components of smear signals are eliminated by passing through a low-pass filter, the smear signals become signals from which noise components are eliminated, however, the signal components of the smear signals may be excessively eliminated by passing through the low-pass filter. SOLUTION: The smear signals output from each of a plurality of reading lines are acquired, compensation signals are determined based on the smear signals output from the reading lines and signals of frequency components equal to or less than a predetermined frequency of the smear signals output from the reading lines and smear components of image signals output from the reading lines are eliminated using the determined compensation signals.
