PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robot which is usable in a human living environment and a working environment with sufficient safety, and exerts high flexibility. SOLUTION: There is provided a control method for controlling operation of an autonomous control type robot. According to the method, prediction is made as to whether or not the autonomous control type robot makes contact with a person, based on the operation of the autonomous control type robot (step S69). If the contact of the robot with the person is predicted (step S69:YES), the operation of the autonomous control type robot is limited so as not to make contact with a vital spot of the person (step S76).
