An access device (1) includes a logical/physical empty capacity managing unit (16) for acquiring information on a remaining capacity from a write once recording device (2A). Moreover, the write once recording device (2A) includes a physical empty capacity managing unit (27) for managing a remaining capacity on a write once memory and reporting it to the access device. Before recording file data, the access device (1) acquires a remaining capacity of the write once memory from the write once recording device (2A) and compares it with a remaining capacity on an FAT so as to decide a remaining capacity capable of actually recording file data. Thus, it is possible to know an accurate remaining capacity of the write once recording device.
