A hydraulic circuit (220) for controlling the application of pressurized cooling fluid to the clutches (32, 34) of a dual clutch transmission (10) that includes a fluid regulator (224). The fluid regulator (224) has an inlet (225) in fluid communication with a source of said pressurized cooling fluid, a first outlet (228) with a first flow path in fluid communication with the clutches (32, 34), and a second outlet (229) with a second flow path in fluid communication with the clutches (32, 34). A control actuator (226) is adapted to selectively control the fluid regulator (224) to cause it to open the first flow path to provide a first variable predetermined amount of cooling fluid to the clutches (32, 34) as primary cooling, and further adapted to cause the fluid regulator (224) to open the second flow path in addition to the first flow path to provide a second variable predetermined amount of cooling fluid to the clutches (32, 34) to supplement the first variable predetermined amount of cooling fluid. |
