An adjusting device (21) radially adjusts a bearing internal part with respect to the fixed bearing external part. The adjusting device includes an engagement unit (24) with flat upper and lower jaws (35,36) for engaging around a measuring bolt. The jaws are insertable between bearing fitting (2) and bearing fork (3) of bearing e.g. pivot bearing towards the measuring bolt. An independent claim is included for measuring method of clearance between bearing internal part and fixed bearing external part of a bearing e.g. pivot bearing in an aircraft or spacecraft.
