The protective wall or dyke is designed to hold back flood water and storm surges on sea shores and rivers. A first wall is fastened to the bank and is high enough to contain normal high water levels. A floating second wall with guide members allowing it to move vertically upward may be installed behind the first wall. It may remain sealed to the ground and acts as a barrier when the first wall is overtopped. |
