摘要 <p>A method for fabricating a liquid crystal display is provided to decrease the number of masks by forming a source/drain electrode and a pixel electrode in one mask process. An active pattern is formed in a pixel part and first and second circuit parts of a first substrate. A gate insulation layer is formed on the first substrate. A gate electrode is formed in the first circuit part, and a p+ source/drain region is formed in the active pattern in the first circuit part. A gate electrode is formed in the pixel part and the second circuit part, and a common line(208) is formed in the pixel part. An n+ source/drain region is formed in the active pattern of the pixel part and the second circuit part. A gate line and an interlayer dielectric are sequentially formed on the first substrate. The gate insulation layer and the interlayer dielectric are partially removed to form first and second contact holes exposing the source and drain regions of the active pattern, respectively. Source/drain electrodes electrically connected to the source region of the active pattern are formed, and a data line crossing the gate line and defining a pixel region is formed. First and second source/drain electrode patterns and first and second data line patterns that are patterned to be the same shape as the source/drain electrodes and the data line are formed under and on the source/drain electrodes and the data line, respectively. A liquid crystal layer is formed on the first or a second substrate. The first and second substrates are combined. The first drain electrode is partially extended to the pixel region to form a pixel electrode.</p>
