A method for controlling a refrigerator is provided to prevent foods from turning sour due to the variation of the temperature by opening a damper after passing a set time from a driving point of a fan. A method for controlling a refrigerator comprises the steps of: driving a compressor after completing the defrosting operation; driving a fan for blowing cooling air; and opening a damper for guiding the cooling air blown by the fan to a refrigerator compartment. The fan and damper are operated by using the difference of time. The damper is placed at a barrier dividing the refrigerator compartment into a freezer compartment. The damper is opened after passing a set time from a driving point of the fan. The compressor is a linear compressor. A cooling fan is operated and the damper in the refrigerator compartment is opened at different timing during a normal cycle after completing the defrosting operation.
