COSMETIC COMPOSITION FOR WHITENING THE SKIN COMPRISING LEDUM PALUSTRE EXTRACTS AS ACTIVE INGREDIENT

A cosmetic composition comprising the extract of Ledum palustre is provided to inhibit activity of tyrosinase, autoxidation of dopachrome, production of melanin in melanocytes, and reduce skin irritation, so that the composition is useful for whitening the skin. A cosmetic composition for whitening the skin comprises 0.00001-30.0%(w/w) of the extract of Ledum palustre which is prepared by extracting Ledum palustre with a solvent selected from water, C1-4 anhydrous or hydrous lower alcohol, acetone, ethyl acetate, chloroform, butylacetate and 1,3-butylene glycol, and has a formulation selected from solution, suspension, emulsion, paste, gel, cream, lotion, powder, soap, surfactant-containing cleansing, oil, powder foundation, emulsion foundation, wax foundation and spray.
