摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus capable of stopping a conveying belt in an extremely short period of time when a paper is jammed, and easily recovering after a paper jam is removed. SOLUTION: A tension roller 5 for giving tensile force to the conveying belt 1 can be separated from the conveying belt 1 by a tension solenoid 63. When a conveyance failure of a printing medium, that is the paper jam, is detected, discharge of an ink drop from a liquid ejection head 11 is stopped and printing is canceled. Then, the tension solenoid 63 is turned on and the tension roller 5 is separated from the conveying belt 1. The conveying belt 1 from which the tension roller 5 is separated loses the tensile force, and is separated from a driving roller 3 and a driven roller 4. Therefore, there is no rotary drive force and the conveying belt 1 with small inertia stops in the extremely short period of time. The drive motor 33 of the conveying belt 1 is stopped after the conveying belt 1 stops so that slip on a conveying belt drive system is prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
