PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the efficient production of 4-hydroxyphenyl N-acetyl-α-D-glucosaminide. SOLUTION: The method for the production of 4-hydroxyphenyl N-acetyl-α-D-glucosaminide comprises the reaction of 2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-D-glucopyranosyl acetate with 4-tert-butoxyphenol in the presence of an activation agent of ytterbium (III) triflate-boron trifluoride diethyl complex to obtain 4-hydroxyphenyl 2-acetamido-3,4,6-tri-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-α-D-glucopyranoside as an intermediate in a high yield and the deprotection of the benzyl group.
