PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact container whose lid body can be opened automatically, can be stopped at an optional position, and is not opened without pressing a pair of right and left lid body disengaging buttons simultaneously. SOLUTION: The compact container includes a container body 1, the lid body 50 fitted turnably to the container body, and a disengaging button 21 for disengaging the container body and the lid body from each other. The lid body rear part is pivotally supported by the peripheral wall rear part of the container body through a bearing part 54 while the lid body rear part is energized repulsively in an opening direction. An engaging member 30 regulating the turning operation of the lid body according to the state of contacting with the bearing part is provided at the peripheral wall rear part of the container body. The contacting state of the engaging member 30 with the bearing part 54 is set to be a first state in which the lid body can be rotated in the opening direction by the repulsive energizing force, a second state in which the rotation of the lid body is stopped, and a third state in which the lid body can be stopped at an optional turning angle.
