<p>Disclosed are: a monoclonal antibody capable of binding specifically to Claudin-3 expressed on the surface of a cell, which is useful for the diagnosis of cancer having enhanced expression of Claudin-3, such as ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, urerine cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, bladder cancer and colorectal cancer; a monoclonal antibody having a cytotoxic activity against a cell of each of these types of cancer; a method for inducing the cytotopathy in a Claudin-3-expressing cell by contacting the Claudin-3-expressing cell with an antibody capable of binding to Claudin-3; a method for inhibiting the proliferation of a Claudin-3-expressing cell; and a method for the diagnosis or treatment of cancer.</p> |
