An oil viscosity sensor is provided to improve efficiency and reduce cost of measurement by using a solenoid and orifice-type cylinders rather than quartz. An oil viscosity sensor(100) using a solenoid(16) comprises as follows. An oil cylinder(10) is equipped with an oil inlet and an oil outlet at both ends thereof. A plunger(14) is positioned inside the oil cylinder and reciprocates vertically. A drive unit is mounted on the upper portion of the plunger and moves the plunger up and down. A capacitance sensing unit is attached to the inner surface of the oil cylinder. A smart circuit(22) is coupled to first and second capacitive probes(18,20) to exchange signals with each other.
