PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the impact noise generated by the contact of the teeth of a link plate on sprocket teeth in each row and the vibration noise generated by the vibration of a silent chain when the engagement is started when the chain is wrapped around a sprocket. SOLUTION: Two or more types of first link plates with different spring constants provided when the engagement thereof with the sprocket teeth are disposed at random in the guide rows 11 and the link rows 12 of the silent chain, respectively. The first link plates 2, 5, 8 with different spring constants have different constants provided when the engagement is started since the distances m1, m3, m3 of the teeth 3, 6, 9 between the centerline L of the pin holes thereof and the engagement start points p1, p2, p3 of inside flanks 3a, 6a, 9a where the engagement of the link plate with the sprocket teeth is started are different from each other.
