PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element which is highly efficient, having excellent durability and high color purity. SOLUTION: An organic EL element has a structure in which at least one layer of preferably a hole injection transportation layer, light emitting layer, electron transportation layer, and electron injection layer are sequentially laminated respectively from an anode side. The electron transportation layer contains naphthacene dielectric and/or anthracene dielectric (preferably naphthacene dielectric). Preferably the electron injection layer (preferably 0.6 to 20 nm, more preferably 1 to 10 nm thickness) contains preferably an organic compound (especially, preferably phenanthroline dielectric).
